This is low power lower sideband microphone is set to about 75% on the gain on the microphone 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 audio test or swinging about 5 watts still 1 2 3 1 2 3 audio test lower sideband alright. We're going to try it that way and do the single sideband test first with the road devil be 100 forward a noise cancelling microphone. Probably going to be a little bit overpowering on the station here we're going to aftermarket speaker hooked up we've turned up everything inside the radio just you know people like to hear the extreme. We're gonna do an audio test real quick we're gonna use this Lincoln to to receive we're gonna take the President McKinley we're gonna get about two and a half miles away because we have to come back and switch to am once we test sight man.

I did stick a d-104 on there and you'll see with the road devil that it's a lot clearer on the audio. However, I wanted to get a strong close audio signal and really seal see what it sounds like up close and when I did that you'll hear in the audio test coming out stock microphones a little muffled and it doesn't surprise me they use you know small element hidden behind a lot of plastic. You needed an external speaker this sounds quite good on the road I can hear it pretty well I gave it a good test yeah and that's the second part of this video actually did an audio test I wanted to see how this radio sounded about two and a half miles away from the base out in DX land I've had some contacts everybody said it sounded really clear good sounding radio. It's a good feature the president McKinley has the front firing speaker the other radios all had a bottom firing speaker meaning that the sound will go right into the dash.
#Cre 8900 review install#
I did have to drill an extra hole in that metal bracket once I did that as you can see very nice clean install there's no gap in between the two there's a slight gap on the side a little bit of the metal bracket showing but it's nothing terrible it kind of solves the mounting problem with the newer radios you know the old radios you didn't know exactly where you want to mount them because they were larger you had to mount them underneath the dash or up above on your headliner new radios or digital smaller din size and they fit in nicely they look modern and matches the existing car stereo. This is a double din slot there was a storage area here plastic storage area where you could stick a wallet or a phone or other things in there and i remove that basically I took the piece of trim off there's two brackets you unscrew the four screws and then there's two brackets on either side that hold the stereo in there and the other piece that was in here the plastic cubby I unscrewed that and then I went to mount these radios in here and they didn't quite line up with the thumb screw. I'm not exactly sure what's up with that but the President McKinley fits very nicely in ii din slot here. I'm not a very clean install I've also tried to stick a unit in nine eighty in here which is supposed to be a din size radio and it didn't fit.
#Cre 8900 review how to#
